Subrogation Legal Research Analyst

Remote (United States) · Full-time

Keep the law behind Ishqkala correct. You will maintain our 50-state research on limitation periods, fault rules, notice-of-claim deadlines and subrogation doctrines, review how our models apply that law to real claim facts, and help subrogation counsel trust each score. This is a research role reporting to Kavya Narayanan, Esq. You will not represent clients or give legal advice.

What you will do

  • Maintain the 50-state and District of Columbia database of property damage, bodily injury, product liability and contract limitation periods, statutes of repose and municipal notice rules, each with a primary-source citation.
  • Track legislative and case law changes, such as Florida's 2023 cut in the general negligence limitation period from four years to two, and record effective dates and accrual rules.
  • Write annotation guidelines and label liability scenarios used to test the Liability Reasoning Engine.
  • Review model outputs on disputed files and explain errors to the Applied AI team in plain terms.
  • Draft state guides, line playbooks and glossary entries for the Ishqkala resource library.
  • Answer research questions from customer subrogation teams about how a rule is modeled, with citations.

What you bring

  • A JD from an ABA-accredited law school, or 4+ years as a subrogation specialist, recovery attorney or paralegal handling multi-state P&C recoveries.
  • Working knowledge of comparative and contributory negligence, the made-whole doctrine, anti-subrogation rules and statutes of repose.
  • Strong legal research skills in Westlaw, Lexis or free primary sources, and the habit of citing everything.
  • Precise writing for both attorneys and claims staff.
  • Comfort working with structured data in spreadsheets or simple databases.

Nice to have

  • NASP Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional (CSRP) designation.
  • Experience with Arbitration Forums filings and inter-company arbitration rules.
  • Product liability or construction defect recovery experience.
